Teaching in English (also known as English-medium Instruction or EMI) represents an exciting opportunity for lecturers to expand their teaching portfolio. At the same time, research has shown that the change to EMI brings a range of challenges as well as benefits for students and teachers. High expectations on both sides as well as new course formats require lecturers to reflect on their teaching practices and whether these are optimal for the specific context of EMI at WU.
This workshop will help you shift your perspective, exchange experiences and offer you tools that will help you unlock your full potential when teaching in English.
Goals
After this workshop, you will be able to:
- shift your perspective from focusing on challenges to recognising competences in EMI settings
- handle typical situations in the classroom with confidence and competence
- create an interactive classroom by applying tried and tested strategies
