Proposal Writing Day

Writing successful research proposals is one of the basic skills in today’s research world. The writing of research proposals, however, differs significantly from writing journal articles. Research papers communicate that you have achieved tremendous things in the past. Good proposals persuade readers that your future work has the potential to achieve ground-breaking scientific, economic, societal and humanitarian impact.

Proposal writers often find themselves asking questions like:

  • Where should I start?
  • How can I stimulate the creative process?
  • How can I write convincing introductions and abstracts?
  • How can I sell my research idea well without promising too much?
  • Who am I writing for and what reviewers especially pay attention to?
  • How can I shape the proposal best to the call?

This workshop presents some answers to these and other questions and gives you the opportunity to ask and discuss your individual questions (Q&A Session; One-on-one coaching). Furthermore, experts from WU and research funding agencies will provide you with helpful hints on how to improve your proposals. They will allow you to look behind the scenes of research funding agencies and their reviewing processes.
