Getting Your Research Question Straight
Do your friends think you do rocket science? Are your parents proud of your research achievements without getting its essence? Are you at an early stage of your doctoral research work and not yet fully certain about the exact research direction? Then you better join this workshop. Your research journey is not meant to end up in PhD Comics.
Working on a PhD thesis pulls you deep into very specific areas of research that are difficult to discuss with people outside the field. But such specialization is not only a token of mastery, but bears also the risk to overlook the elephant in the room. What is of utmost importance at any stage of research is clarity, and this workshop is meant to help in constructing clarity.
Target Group
This workshop addresses researchers at the early stage of their scientific career, with little or no prior experience in publishing their own research results.
Objectives
The main objective is to understand the essential questions that any research work has to answer and to work towards a pitch of your own doctoral research that strikes a chord with your audience.
Methods
In the workshop, we will discuss the essentials of positioning research work. Participants will then develop their pitches in a breakout session and then present to the group.
Content
- Positioning research
- Delivering pitch
