Convincing application documents play a key role when applying for a professorship. This webinar shows how to best present your academic profile in a written application for an assistant or full professorship in the German-speaking countries. Processes and priorities of appointment committees as well as their requirements for an academic portfolio are explained. Based on this, standards for the four central application documents – CV, cover letter, research profile and teaching profile – will be highlighted.
The webinar is followed by an online peer coaching session, where you will have the opportunity to review your individual application documents (CV + cover letter) together with the trainer and one other participant. This small-group format allows for personalised feedback and in-depth discussion of your materials.
Target group
This webinar is aimed at postdocs planning to apply for professorships in Austria, Germany, or Switzerland. As the procedures and academic culture vary considerably, we do not recommend it for those intending to apply exclusively in other countries.
Goals
This course clarifies the appointment procedures for professorships in German-speaking countries. Participants will gain insight into the formal structures, committee expectations, and key guidelines for written applications. The course enables postdocs to approach the application process with greater confidence, strategy, and clarity.
