Workshop: From Concepts to Clarity: Using the Peer Instruction Method to Develop Conceptual Knowledge

The Peer Instruction method is a highly sustainable approach, particularly used for developing conceptual knowledge. It is excellently suited for both online and in-person teaching, for small and large groups, and for introductory as well as advanced courses. In our course, we focus on the fundamental question of how we can meet learners where they are and how the Peer Instruction method can help uncover misconceptions and develop conceptual knowledge. We discuss how a concept task, a concept image, and a concept question are structured and everyone develops exercises suitable for their courses.

• Describe what a concept task, a concept image and concept cartoons are.
• Address content-related comprehension difficulties using the Peer Instruction method.
