While nearly all researchers acknowledge that reproducibility is a crucial aspect of high-quality research, the reality is that the code published in many studies often fails to run seamlessly. In some cases, even the original authors struggle to reproduce their results. This workshop will introduce you to techniques and tools that make it easy to rerun your code at any time, ensuring your research remains reproducible and reliable.

Target group

This workshop is designed for researchers from various disciplines who already have a basic understanding of Python and wish to know more about how they can use Python as a tool for reproducible research.

Goals

Our primary focus will be on answering the question: How can I use Python for my research and create a reproducible system?

Content

  • Python essentials
  • Reproducible Python setup
  • Python Research Tools (Overview and Show Cases)
  • Jupyter / Quarto
  • Common pitfalls doing research with Python
  • Obtaining and storing data with Python
  • Making your research / code reproducible

Methods

The workshop will feature a blend of presentations, discussions, and hands-on computer exercises. Please bring your own device.
