Target Group

This workshop can only be attended as part of the Career Development Program for Postdocs Non-Tenure Track and Tenure Track.

As postdoc aiming at a scientific career you are often faced by a dilemma, the so-called rush-hour of life: you are expected to distinguish yourself in the academic field, publish excellent papers and successfully obtain third-party funding, while at the same time juggling work and family life. Not surprisingly, many regard requests to join a panel (and thus an internal positioning) as an additional burden whose benefits are uncertain.

Goals

The workshop aims at developing, together with you, approaches and solutions to the following questions:

  • When and to what extent participating in university panels can be beneficial,
  • Which pitfalls you should be aware of, and
  • How to position yourself successfully (including one’s own agenda) in such a context.

Content

The workshop combines the following elements:

  • Analysis what type of panel participation may be useful in order to advance your individual career,
  • Overview of panels at WU Wien, including their specific functions and relevance,
  • Case studies based on suggestions by participants with the aim to optimize your individual interventions and to gain lateral leadership experience in institutional, national or international level boards or committees.

Structure

You can express your interest in this webinar by clicking on "Register" ("Anmelden") on this page. As soon as enough interested people have registered, we will search for a possible date together.
