When submitting a research paper to an academic journal, it is increasingly required that the underlying data (i.e., research data) be provided or referenced. This is especially true for top journals, such as those included in the WU Star Journal List.
Accordingly, addressing the journal's respective data policies is becoming more important. In this webinar, we therefore will make you familiar with characteristics of such a data policy as currently implemented by scholarly journals. Additionally, we will present specific elements from individual journals: the topic of reproducibility, the role of a journal’s data editor. Furthermore, we will take a look at what journal guidelines say about the use of ChatGPT and similar AI tools and consider so called pseudo data sets. The data guidelines of journals included in the WU Star Journals list serve as a basis.
The Knowledge Nuggets are a webinar series that takes on a specific topic in the field of research data management. For example, learn about new forms of archiving, discover best practices, and get practical tips for your daily research work.
Goals
Participants will gain knowledge of data policies in scientific journals, their key elements, and specifics, and learn about potential pitfalls and challenges in meeting publishers' and editors' data policies.
