Workshop: Setting People in Motion: Leading and Motivating Your Team

Even experienced managers often feel overwhelmed if they are to motivate team members. This workshop offers an introduction into the background of motivation. Participants learn about the good reasons that really set people in motion.

Case studies from practice and newest knowledge about motivation and communication help participants understand motivation in their leadership practice. Building on this, the next module trains to plan and communicate accoordingly. The aim: to create both good conditions and good performance for all team members.

Target Group

This workshop can only be attended as part of the Career Development Program for Postdocs Non-Tenure Track and Tenure Track. 

Content

The focus will be on the following topics:

• Basic knowledge motivation: Motives, behaviour, performance and change
• Understanding and dealing with your own motive structure
• Dealing with team members' motives
• Motivate successfully as a postdoc

Methods

The methods are balanced and tailored to different learning needs: individual reflection with writing phases, tandem and team work, lecture, case studies, mutual consultation. The focus will be on concrete cases.
