Professional Business Talk (B2 or Above)

Target Group

Employees of the WU with advanced English skills (level B2-C1 according to the Common European Frame of Reference for Languages; you can find a guideline for self-evaluation here >>) who would like to refine and apply their English in professional settings on a regular basis.

Workshop Objectives

In view of the increasing internationalization at WU, it is not only important to be able to communicate the position held and the related duties in English, but also to talk about business and economic issues which cannot be directly associated with a particular job.

Workshop Content

  • Vocabulary covering a wide range of topics
  • Advanced-level grammar
  • Text comprehension
  • Advanced Writing Skills
  • Oral communication: conversations, discussions, arguing a case
  • Exploring selected business and economic issues, for example Human Resources Management, Marketing, Securities Market, Globalization, Business Ethics, Mergers,…

On the basis of texts and up-to-date news coverage, we will identify and contextualize the relevant technical terms and analyze the interdependencies of the various subject areas. Participants are invited to give presentations and take part in discussions, simulated meetings and negotiations.
