Academic Writing

Writing up your research can be a daunting prospect, especially if English is not your native language. There are bound to be lots of questions - some related to content, some to language, and some located at the intersection of the two. For example:

  • How should a good abstract be structured?
  • What information should the introduction to a paper typically include?
  • How can I cite other scholars' work without my own voice being drowned out by quotations?
  • What can I do to capture readers' attention and to make their reading experience more enjoyable?

These and many related questions will be addressed in this workshop.

This intensive course is aimed at faculty who are preparing English publications, or intend to do so in the near future, and would like to practice and perfect their English language skills. No prior experience is assumed.
